How Cold Was It??? (was: -40F)

Post by TallGrass »

It was so cold, my wife's feet felt warm.

It was so cold, Lance Armstrong seems like a sincere, caring gentleman.

It was so cold, the Broncos want to bring back Tebow.

It was so cold, Obama had his hands in his own pockets.

It was so cold, Richard Simmons shorts now go down to the top of his knees.

It was so cold, people in Baltimore laughed when it was leaked that Art Modell's will says the Ravens will be moved to Omaha.

It was so cold, they found a mountain goat frozen mid-squat.

It was so cold, when the waitress spilled coffee in my lap, I thanked her.

It was so cold, by the time I walked across the parking lot into work, I looked like I just hyjakked a 747.

It was so cold, my huskies won't go outside.

It was so cold, my chimney has smoke-cicles.

It was so cold, only Ed, Al, and Bo have enough time to write their names in the snow.

It was so cold, even Swedish cars wouldn't start.

It was so cold, I saw a group of teenagers and they had their pants pulled all the way up.

It's so cold, even Scott isn't talking about how cold it has been in Craig.

(Not really, of course...)

Yes, and it appears that your most active topic is actually music, and I don't complain.

So, let's talk about some non Craig weather. I found this interesting.

Fairbanks Alaska (coldest real city in Alaska, though some small towns and villages are colder [such as Barrow]) so far this month:

Moab airport so far this month:

So, I must say that some of this cold weather is pretty interesting this year.

I always love checking Fairbanks' weather. I know they had a stretch in December (maybe the third week or so) where they were routinely getting close to the 50 below mark with max temps reaching no higher than 20 below. Sounds like good pine beetle control to me!

Being from Fairbanks, I know how crazy the weather can get. They actually cancelled school today because of rain - the temperature will get high enough to rain, which freezes on the roads, turning them into literal ice rinks. Heck the only time school was cancelled for me was because of rain in January and February.

Something doesn't sound right. Are you certain it was -40F and not -40C ?
