I've been wanting to buy & read it. Considering the overall statistics of death on K2, it's amazing that a world-class pioneer would make the decisions he did on a mountain that grants no mistakes. I find the whole process of learning & mistakes (epistimology) to be extremely interesting and how quick a lot of people are in pointing out someone's lack of decision-making & mistakes (armchair finger-pointing). The 'book' I'm writing delves into this subject matter.
I'm reading,
"The Last of his Kind" by David Roberts, about the life of Bradford Washburn (Alaska pioneer) and something else from 'The Mountaineers' called,
"Strange & Dangerous Dreams" about the spirit of adventure and the madness that often comes with it, plus 3 guidebooks and 2 other misc. books on the desk taking up space where my feet normally go.
So K2 is gonna have to wait.
Thanks a lot about the book! I'm hoping it comes out sounding sensable and not some hodge-podge story where you need 'schrooms to make sense of it! Though, I'm certainly
not knocking 'schrooms.
Oh, and by the way....laughter. Get any strange girl at the bar to laugh first and you've got an open door!
