When I finished in the pre-internet days it was a significant thing to write the CMC to be added to the fourteener finishers list. I then made it a point to find out when the Trail and Timberline came out with that year’s finishers so I could buy a couple copies for posterity. When I look at this list online I recognize some names from this site. Do most people still do this? Are most people even still aware of the CMC list?

I don't think most people send anything in these days. I'll be surprised if most of the 50-60 people in this thread show up in the list this year. I did send in my info but I'm guessing most do not.

I just sent mine in, after finding this thread for the info: http://www.14ers.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=27344

Are people aware that the you don't need to be a member of the CMC to send in your name to be added to the completion list? The list started as a CMC attempt to chronicle the completers.

Who knew how it would grow?
First 500 to finish took 67 years. The next 500 took 12 years. If people were still registering names, I'm convinced we'd be seeing a number closer to 1700 right now.

Now in the days of the internet I think the CMC could put the list more up front on its website. I know the CMC is much more than summit canisters and the list. But that is how many people first hear of them. Putting the list more up front instead of buried on their website could be part of marketing themselves to more potential new members.

Hey, that hasn't happened yet! Talk about putting the cart in front of the horse! Good luck.

Only ~1700 finishers? Nice! I'm, like, a pioneer or something

First: Longs Peak 8/18/2004

Last: Mt. Sneffels 8/28/2010

Favorite: Wilson Peak (summer), Huron Peak (snow)

Best View: North Eolus

Worst View: Mt. Antero

It was a great pleasure to meet everyone along the way: outdoorsy people are the best (especially those that value exercise).

Conclusion: (1) There is no easy 14er and (2) the route not taken is always easier.

Ha! As of now, I am the only October 2010 finisher. I suspect there are others out there in silence.

Finished on Pikes, favorite dances between the Needle and Capitol. Capitol trumps on accomplishment, Needle edges out on fun per mileage.
