Was just in LC last week and thought that the burger at Lake City Cafe was really good. So good, we went there twice. Cannibal Grill was pretty good too.

Poker Alice .........Today I found out the owners "lost the business"
Oh the irony. I was just in Deadwood learning about Poker Alice and how she acquired her businesses.

What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - That's all I need the ashtray, the remote control, the paddle game, and this magazine, and the chair and I don't need one other thing, except my dog.

I don't need my dog.

Oh man no kidding. I think I may eaten at that place with you after one of our hikes a few years back. I never felt like that place was going to stay around too long. Too nice for such a small town. Hard to make a living I would imagine.

Poker Alice served a decent pie...tasted GREAT after a day of hiking! Its tough running any restaurant in Lake City. I've talked to many of the locals.

1) They have to make the bulk of their revenue from Memorial Day - Labor Day.
2) Competition can be fierce.
3) Finding good help is a challenge.
4) Many employees work multiple jobs and shifts. See #1.
5) Owners and managers will put in 100 hour weeks. Exhausting.

Most of the businesses close up after Labor Day. So, only a few remain after a year or two. Poker Alice was one of them. Cannibal Café has been there awhile along with that morning café. Every year there seems to be a bunch of new joints. I always enjoy my stay in Lake City. Truly unique.

If nothing else, you should check the date of a thread. This is 2-3 years old.
