Inside of the Trailhead in BV is a nice little spot called Simple Eatery, always have had good quality there. Fresh local ingredients and artisan bread.
Love Buen Tiempo in downtown Ouray for New Mexican style enchiladas. The Posole is awesome after a chilly fall hike.

I'll second Simple Eatery. Went there on Saturday and they have a good menu with nice outdoor seating.Chicago Transplant wrote:Inside of the Trailhead in BV is a nice little spot called Simple Eatery, always have had good quality there. Fresh local ingredients and artisan bread.

Yes! I can't order biscuits & gravy anywhere else now...it's always so bland and disappointing. Northside is the best.stephakett wrote:NORTHSIDE!!!!!summitrunner wrote:Vail or Avon Breakfast: West Side or Northside...donuts!

K's in BV is a great place, especially after a long day on the trails or on a 14er. The burgers are good and the prices are even better. For around $8 you get a burger, fries (a lot of fries) and a drink. Bring your own beer.

Re: Best Local Food Joints
Lake City: Packer's Saloon & Cannibal Grill is by far the best place to eat in LC. The food is great with a wide variety of choices, and the atmosphere is casual and relaxed, especially the large outdoor area. And the staff is very friendly.
Stay away from that place that serves greasy food to fat Texans.
Leadville: High Mountain Pies is an excellent pizza place. The Margherita pizza is one of the best I''ve ever had. It's a classic. Also, the outdoor area and casual atmosphere make the place special.
Tennessee Pass Cafe is a great burger and beer place. Highly recommend.

Re: Best Local Food Joints
My favorite in Leadville was the Golden Burro as the mashed potatoes and meatloaf really seemed to hit the spot after a day of 14er hiking. Was passing thru Leadville with the wife maybe a year ago and wanted to take her there. It was 2 p.m. I think. They were just closing - only open for lunch these days. That's too bad they can't stay open for dinner anymore.Altitude High wrote:Leadville: High Mountain Pies is an excellent pizza place. The Margherita pizza is one of the best I''ve ever had.
