Re: 2020 Goals
Complete the 14ers
Finish my first ultra (Sangre de Cristo 50)
Gain the admiration of an online forum via constant bloviation about my mountaineering
Insult n00bs for having valid questions that I also had when I was just getting started
Only 2/4. Damn. I'll be a forum celebrity one day.

Re: 2020 Goals
FAIL 1. finish the Sawatch 14ers, including North Massive, Massive Green, East La Plata, South Elbert, and South Massive (can you say, Tour De Massive?)
FAIL 2. make it to a summit in the Sangres and in the Elks (how do i keep avoiding these..?)
PASS 3. as always, more summits than the year before
FAIL Bonus Points for finishing up the Evans Group (West Evans, Mt. Warren, Rogers Peak, and Gray Wolf)
well s**t. guess there's always 2021...

not too bad, given the year/circumstances. very lucky to be able to find a live race this year for #4.timisimaginary wrote: ↑Wed Mar 25, 2020 9:30 am 1) stay healthy - YES (so far)
2) new 5K PR - NO

5) VOTE! - YES
still going, but on a day like today, the outlook feels... hazy.timisimaginary wrote: ↑Tue Jul 21, 2020 10:41 am right now, my primary goal for 2020 is to make it to 2021

Re: 2020 Goals
Seems like I was a wee bit optimistic about 2020. Should have just contented myself with getting out of bed! Once the snow melted and ski season ended, it just became chaos.bergsteigen wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 7:23 am Building on the last years successful fitness return:
1 Remain injury free
2 Ski more, complain less
3 Fix muscle imbalance
4 Get on a rope more
5 13ers on skis or foot, in CO and out
1. Success
2. Success - almost broke my 2019 record but still got 120 days. Then Covid complaining. Uggg
3. Almost got it, but then Covid and gyms, then motivation.
4. Nope, cause Covid and partners
5. Got a couple new repeats on skis, and a barely adequate amount of new ones on foot. Nothing out of state, cause Covid.

Re: 2020 Goals
I don't know if I ever posted goals for this year. So far:
31 new ranked peaks
18 new peaks over 13k (14 in CO, 3 in California including Whitney and White Mountain Peak, Wheeler in NV)
2 more centennials (Vestal and Teakettle)
We took the risk to go for Whitney this year and I'm glad we did. Managed to car camp for a week straight and interact with very few people.
All the dogs have had a good year and have all now climbed well over 100 ranked peaks (and all have over 60 above 13k as well).

-Climb more state Highpoints.
-More random 12ers/13ers in CO, WY and NM.
-None due to Corona, but I will try again next year.
-I did do this one! But entirely in CO. Nine new 12ers and eight new 13ers! Ranked and unranked of course.

There's still time, but if we don't get to it then I'm making it goal #1 for 2021!Conor wrote: ↑Wed Nov 04, 2020 12:37 am 9) be more social. I've been tempted to actually go to a 14ers happy hour, but i abstain from drinking and it always seems like a selfish thing to do when I could be hanging with the fam. But, 2019 i gained a really excellent partner, and "broke up" with one. So, meet more really excellent partners had 3 outings with different .com peeps. Still trying to get out with Rose....

Re: 2020 Goals
My two goals were:
To finish the Thirteeners (I left one on purpose so I can ski my finisher next spring, 6 out of 7 remaining done this year)
To climb more out of state/country (Did not happen as I didn't really travel with the 'rona going on. I got to Utah once for a weekend, saw new parts of Arches/Canyonlands vs past visits)

Hike a lot and stay fit

- >150,000'
- Sierra with Rachel
- "Home" peaks: Legault - finish monthly grid, Berrian - add 30 to daily grid, start another peak monthly grid
Ski
- >30 days in bounds
- > 3 days out of bounds
Travel - 2 more National Parks with Clara
Help other folks - hiking, career, education
Be happy
- No Mosquito peaks but 11 new 13ers (4 Cents), 8 new 12ers
- Nothing in the Sierra 'causa Covid'; did join Rachel up Tabeguache via Jennings Creek
- Finished Legault, Hobbs Peak and Pt 8565 monthly grids; added 70 new daily grid slots to Berrian ("only" 150 more to finish the 366)
- Finished the ski season the day that Copper closed with 33 days in bound; none out-of-bounds
- Travel was tough but we've been to Craters of the Moon, Rocky Mtn Nat Park and Glen Canyon National Rec Area (no Nat Parks new for Clara, though)
- Trying to find folks willing to get together with has been a challenge
- Happy but concerned

Re: 2020 Goals
That will be a fun finisher ski! I’m thinking of doing the same strategy with a different peak, since I’ve already enjoyed Star!Chicago Transplant wrote: ↑Wed Nov 04, 2020 2:51 pm My two goals were:

Not even close. To be fair, I didn’t even try. Basically been an antisocial hermit this year.
