It's the wooden railing on the back deck. I have been feeding them for years and alot of them never leave or go away. I do take the picture from the kitchen window so it could essentially be a window feeder.

Re: Birds: Interesting and Returning
I saw a pair of jays chase a squirrel down and up a tree three times today in city park. I guess they had a nest in that tree. The birds won.

The Lazuli Buntings have returned to UT. Haven't grabbed a photo yet, though. They winter down in southern Mexico and return in April/May. Males have beautiful blue heads. Anybody seeing these or any others coming through lately?

Re: Birds: Interesting and Returning
Yeah there's a group in Redstone Canyon just outside of Fort Collins pretty reliably in late April, and sure enough they were back there last week. Pretty awesome.greenonion wrote: ↑Tue May 04, 2021 10:18 am The Lazuli Buntings have returned to UT. Haven't grabbed a photo yet, though. They winter down in southern Mexico and return in April/May. I hike at the Ridgway reservoir quite often.
Someone else I encountered on the trail mentioned they had just seen a bald eagle.
The next week i saw 2 golden eagles there, and another golden eagle last week.

Re: Birds: Interesting and Returning
This year I have seen more American Goldfinches than ever. They're super cool and their song is very unique. I was recently pointed to the eagle cam that is setup on the NW side of Standley Lake here in the Denver burbs. I drive past it almost every day and didn't even know it was there. Here's the link: https://www.cityofwestminster.us/ParksR ... k/EagleCam. They have a single chick and it's growing fast.

These I guess are pretty common, but the first time I've almost ran into one - Dusty Grouse!

Re: Birds: Interesting and Returning
We've had these kid hummers and momma camped out at our front door since about Memorial Day. It has been beautiful and incredibly interesting to watch. They just fledged yesterday. Really cool to experience all these days...
