Love the Northern Flicker. I see them frequently here in Colorado and have noticed that they like to use their beaks to drum on metal objects, especially street lamp enclosures and rooftop vents.

Re: Birds: Interesting and Returning
Its amusing to watch a hundred crabby geese fight over a small exposed 50 square foot piece of grass in the park. They havent eaten much since the record snowstorm four days ago. The grass is worn down to the soil from hundreds of hungry geese. No great pity since they are all very fat from gorging on Denver grass all winter. Soon they will fly back north to the land of Rocky and Bullwinkle.

Sharp Shinned Hawk. He never left and has been eating the stay-at-homes over the winter. I'm sure he's ready for a more varied menu.

One often pecks at the metal chimney vent on our house, which makes a horrible racket. I found that turning on the gas fireplace soon eliminates the noise!

The Pelicans are back at Cherry Creek SP. They are shockingly huge birds to see in person if you haven’t seen them before.

I sometimes wondered whether that noise would be annoying to the occupants inside. I guess I have my answermountainrev wrote: ↑Thu Mar 18, 2021 9:39 amOne often pecks at the metal chimney vent on our house, which makes a horrible racket. I had no idea that there were pelicans nearby. I have seen a bunch of them in Florida, and they are impressive!dwoodward13 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 18, 2021 10:30 am The Pelicans are back at Cherry Creek SP. They are shockingly huge birds to see in person if you haven’t seen them before.

We usually get them in Fort Collins too. I've never seen the browns ones coming through, just white ones.Tornadoman wrote: ↑Thu Mar 18, 2021 12:42 pmI had no idea that there were pelicans nearby.
