My goals for 2021 are a little on the softer side but as my motto is " never, never, never give up" here it goes...
1) Continue to be in good health so that I can be outside enjoying hikes, climbs, skiing, snowswhoeing and anything related to being outdoors all year long.
2)Hike 3 more fourteeners
3) Get some help and mentoring to start doing some class 3 climbs
4) Hike 4-5 more thirteeners
5) Continue to explore the Weminuche Wilderness- my favorite area in Colorado!
6) Hopefully, hike with friends as right now most of my hikes are solo.I do not mind them but I know I gain confidence when I am with another hiker.
7) This year I was meant to climb Kilimanjaro but the trip has been postponed to summer 2022. Still super excited about this amazing opportunity!.
8) Continue to support, advocate and help educate people about the mountains, the thrills and adversities.I currently help with CFI and I am Gaia GPS "ranger" , but most of all, I want people to love the mountains and respect them.
Never,never give up!.

Really cool seeing everyone's list.

Mine:
1) Get a few winter 13ers in. Looking at Marble, Eagle, Homestake, the unnamed cents near Lake City, and North Star

2) A week in the Weminuche bagging as many 13ers as I can and sleeping in as many scenic spots as I can

3) Kit Carson N Ridge and a revisit of LB-Blanca with my friend who would love it

4) A 2-3 day excursion in the HCW for the 13ers there

5) All the Lake City Cents

6) Backpacking in Yosemite

7) Retry the Stonewall Century bike ride but actually be prepared and fit and on the right bike this time
The days I keep my gratitude higher than my expectations, I have really good days.

So when is it ok to give up?

Always good to read what people are trying to accomplish this year. Mine were interrupted last year by travel restrictions and the rona, so hopefully with the vaccine and such I can get back to enjoying those Colorado summers once more. So in no particular order, these are outdoors-related goals:

Stay healthy and employed. I’m mentally drained from the past nine months and have managed to dodge the virus so far. Some of my friends have not been so lucky, and some of my fellow employees have not made it.

Complete the 58.

Start the Cents.

Get to 6000 m. Probably the Andes.

International travel once more, get to a few more countries. I like Latin America.

Cascade peaks- Hood, Adams, Sisters, Shasta.

50000+ ft vertical for the year. Well okay, 75000+ is a reasonable goal.

Ski a 14er, or more. And more hiking for turns in general, like about 1/4 to 1/3 of my days on a board.

More barefoot 14ers, and hiking in general.

I'm a bit disappointed John Gatt hasn't posted in this thread.
For me, my goals would be 1500 miles, finishing the 14ers(Culebra, Little Bear, Sunlight, and Eolus), visiting all the National Parks in Utah, doing a few 13ers in the Cimmarons, and improving my photography. Thanks to Matt Payne and his trip reports for sparking that interest, I really enjoy photography.

Lol I get nervous about stating my goals because if I fail because it makes any shortcomings tangible as opposed to just saying that I modified my goals along the way, but here's roughly what I'm planning for 2021:

1) Finish my remaining 7 14ers (Decalibron, Quandary, Culebra, and Maroon). Plan to do Decalibron and Quandary in the winter and I'd consider Culebra in the winter as well, but knowing how slowly I move in the winter and how much longer the route is I'm not sure a mandatory 12 hour window would be enough for me. Also I've read repeatedly that the ranch won't let you do it solo in the winter and seeing that I want to solo all of them on the initial attempt, if that's indeed the case that's a deal breaker for me. Lol I'm nowhere near competent enough to even think about Maroon in the winter and plus I want to do the Bells Traverse.

2) Complete the Crestone and Bells Traverses to finish the traverses.

3) Start on the California 14ers with Russell, Whitney, and Muir.

4) Put in more work on the Centennials seeing as I only have two so far and even those were directly linked to 14er attempts (Columbia and Gladstone).

5) Do at least 100 Inclines. Did 55 in 2020 even with the four month covid hiatus and ~80 in 2018 and 2019 (lol didn't track all of them, but I know it was in that ballpark), so I think 100 is attainable especially with now trying to commit to at least twice a week even if I have to do it when it's dark.

One month down, 11 more months to go in 2021.

Judging from the number of Conditions Reports submitted for January, it appears that a lot of people here are off to a good start. How did you all do goal wise?

Goals goals goals...

After Postponing for a few years, we are finally planning for Andrew Hamilton to attempt the centennial record. Highest hundred. The plan is to begin his attempt on June 21 and finish in under 20 days. He plans to do this in a style not attempted yet- which is supported.

If you are serious about helping, it could be much appreciated. We have a designated 4wdriver - for a chunk of it. I will be the main support - along with his sisters availability for about 10 days.

You can PM me if you are interested in support!

Since I turned 80 last July, I have summited 35 peaks including a dozen of 13ers and 12ers. I am too far away from being retired from mountain climbing, hopefully continuing till 85 or 90. Even though my 2021 goals may be a bit modest, I still dream of summiting a very few more 14ers like Mt. Massive, La Plata Peak and Redcloud Peak and a dozen of 13ers. Wish me luck!
