Yeah, but I say let's assume that he did meant that. Maybe that will bring the universe back in order and all will be good for 2021.

You don't need to smell a damn thing. Go rock climb for a little and that will be all the understanding you need. And with that, I've now entered the a**hole/elitist realm probably.

And what understanding is that if I may inquire?

I am enjoying the analogies... let keep em coming! I got one - It's like usain bolt setting a stretch goal of running the incline

Or, Tom Brady setting a goal of winning the world series?

Not being sensitive. Merely discussing the topic that is climbing....on a hiking forum. My fault, no one else's.

Daaaaamg! Hah

You just defaulted to making lots of assumptions about the OP that maybe not everyone made. I certainly didn't. There are contexts under which pursuing those two goals at once would be illogical.

Alright, now I realize that the climbing is off-topic for a hiking site, sorry about that! Admins, if you want to take it down I will not be offended.

No need to do that. Good luck with your goals.

I've been climbing for about ten years and am very afraid of heights. I use climbing as a strength exercise rather than a mental one and generally do not push my fear of heights within that sport. In that sense, being physically able to climb 5.13 but unable to lead anything that requires any sort of physical difficulty actually makes a lot of sense to me. I can remember learning how to sport climb in a gym when I was 14 and being so gripped that even 5.10 felt hard. Just a bit of perspective from a boulderer :-"

I’ve been climbing for about 20 years, and could lead up to 5.9 and follow on 11 on trad, I’ve done a lot of easy climbing but never got into any real hard climbing, now I don’t do much anymore, top rope 5.11, sport lead 5.6 and trad.

My goal this year is to follow someone up the Diamond, maybe lead the pitch from the car to the bathroom.
