2021 Hiking Related Goals:

Hike on 60 days this calendar year
Hike/walk/run/treadmill 2021 miles
Hike/walk/run/treadmill elevation gain of 1 million feet
Summit a combined total of 10 winter 13/14ers
Finish the Bicentennials
Summit 3 new state highpoints outside of Colorado
Summit 3 new El Paso County Highpoints
Hike another section of the Colorado Trail
Keep my average above 10+ miles and 4000’+ of elevation gain per hike
Take my turkey on a midnight hike through the neighborhood and to the park after it snows so the kids can wonder where the ‘velociraptor’ tracks came from in the morning.
It's a mountain: get over it.

Managed to get 86 new 13ers done this year, including 34 of the Top 200 highest. Hoping for similar tallies again next year in Colorado. Here are the peaks I most want to get done:

1) Mount Rainier (one of my last "tough" state high points -- I've done everything west of the Mississippi River except WA, WY, and AK)
2) Gannett Peak (one of my last "tough" state high points)
3) Mount Kilimanjaro and/or Pico de Orizaba (either one would be my highest summit ever, and a cool international box to check)
4) Sharkstooth (only yet-to-be-climbed Top 100 summit in RMNP)
5) Middle + South Teton (because I got turned around on this last time)
6) Pigeon, Turret, and Jupiter (3 of the 13 centennials I have left to get, sounds like a good backpacking trip)
7) Thunder Pyramid, Cathedral, and Hagerman w/ the Four Pass Loop (since I did nothing in the Elks this year)
8) Split Mountain + Williamson/Tyndall (because I'm working on the CA 14ers)
9) Mount St. Helens (which COVID ruined this year)
10) Tenmile Traverse (because I drive along that road from Frisco to Breckenridge a lot)

Okay, looks like 2021 is really here! My somewhat meager but ambitious for me hiking and climbing goals for this new year go something like this:

1) Hook up with at least one new partner for hiking 13ers and 14ers.
2) 14ers: If I'm ever going to finish up this list then I need to think about getting after it a little bit. So, let's say eight new 14er summits for 2021: 4 Sangres, 2 San Juan, 1 Sawatch, 1 Front.
3) Finish up Mosquito range 13ers, so Clinton, Arkansas, Tweto, London, Sheridan and a few unranked summits.
4) Hike one or more Tenmile Range 13ers: Atlantic and Pacific!
5) Hike one or more Front Range 13ers: How about Silverheels, Guyot and Whale?
6) Hike one or more Sangre De Cristo 13ers: Hunts Peak and...............anything, Cottonwood Peak has been on my radar.
7) Hike more Sawatch 13ers: Ouray, Cronin, Casco and French, Champion and 13,736.
8) Go backpacking with my nephew. Willow Lake with Kit Carson and Challenger sounds good me (fits in with goal 2!).
9) Prove how nonprolific of a climbing career I've had by finally reaching a total of 100 individual CO summits (that's ranked, unranked, 14ers, 13ers, 12ers and............Midland Hill!!)
10) Repeat #1

Happy New Year everyone! Here's to success with your 2021 goals.

Lol! Yes! Kids’ perspectives need to be unended in unexpected with ways like velociraptor tracks!

The goals, and achievements, of many in this thread are spectacular enough to almost intimidate a one-trip-a-year Midwesterner like me into not posting my meager targets. Then I reminded myself, the name of the website is 14ers.com after all. So, with Old Flatlander pride: Blanca Group. Period.

[*]Finish Weminuche 13ers
[*]Finish the 13ers with required Class 4 and Class 5
I have something similar...

Since my early 30s, I've had the annual goal of 20 13ers, which would make climbing the 13ers a lifelong pursuit where I finish in my early 60s. But my selection of peaks has been guided by the goal of the "constructive completion of the 13ers," meaning that if I climb all of the 13ers on this list, then my finishing can be inferred. This constructive completion list consists of all of the class 3 or harder 13ers as ranked on LOJ (there are 84 of them) and all of the peaks on the Storm King Peak quad (and I suppose you can throw in the Columbine Pass for good measure). To me, this is the essence of climbing the 13ers -- climbing hard peaks and backpacks. Do the peaks on the constructive completion list, and the remaining 13ers are easy. But if one doesn't like hard peaks and backpacks, then one can climb over 450 13ers and never finish the list.

I've done all of the Storm King peaks, and I have three class 3 peaks left -- Peak L, Siberia, and West Needle. It would be nice to finish those off this year. But since I'm more concerned about my bike racing this summer, it's a low priority. Maybe I get to them in September, maybe not if there's another freakish early season snow.

1. 100 new ranked peaks
2. Climb in some new ranges
3. Redpoint 5.11 (perma-goal because I never find time to work on it)
4. Younts and Thorofare (most remote 12ers in CONUS)
5. Potential FA(s) of undisclosed 11k peak(s)
6. Do something stupid, like Gannett in a day or something similar
