Haha, that was last night’s episode of pandemic entertainment. Tonight we’re learning about the world’s colliding. Did 14er World and 14ers.com worlds ever collide?
Nope.

Deep persistent layer (instead of slab)?
Depth hoar?

Yeah, deep persistent layer.

Sure, sometimes it can be depth hoar. Sometimes it's buried surface hoar, graupel, or rain crust. Anything that causes a week interface in the snow pack between a slab and a bed surface and is buried and difficult to trigger. Slab sandwich and all...

Thanks. I'd just never seen that abbreviation before.

Fantastic!

And it looks like the system at the end of this week will mainly target the southern part of the state so that will hopefully bolster their numbers.

Its certainly good to see the numbers improving, but also keep in mind we are like 2-1/2 weeks away from normal peak. Many of these areas that are behind are going to need at least 200% of their average the next 2-1/2 weeks to get to 100% by April 10. Its always harder to catch up the closer you get to the end of the season. I'll take being in the 90% range though given how this season was playing out.

We also had the East Vail fatality this season and UT has had 2 sidecountry fatalities. If I'm not missing any that's 4/35 nationally this year.

There was another buried and rescued in East Vail, and someone was buried and killed on Mt Trelease, which is next to Loveland Ski Area. Not sure if they accessed through the ski area or via Dry Gulch.

Unfortunately, the good work of Feb. and March that went into building the snowpack seems likely to be undone by this warm April weather. With it comes an increasing risk of wet slide avalanches.

Good end to the season, ski season gets shorter
And shorter every year, we had like 6 weeks of winter and 2 weeks of spring, straight to summer now.
