I was over the pass twice on Saturday and struck out on moose.

I haven't seen the moose since maybe June? Been quite a while. She was frequenting the mud pit about a quarter mile before the top of the summit, but hasn't been there recently

Well, we went over Sunday, October 2nd (about 8am) and yesterday (about 2:30pm) and no sightings either (went down and camped at the Dunes for a couple of nights). The colors all the way down and back were amazing ... lots of red this fall.

But, there were a gdzillion people and dogs on the pass both times so I'm with stephakett ... Kenosha is a smart girl.

Will look again this weekend. :-D
As if none of us have ever come back with a cool, quasi-epic story instead of being victim to tragic rockfall, a fatal stumble, a heart attack, an embolism, a lightning strike, a bear attack, collapsing cornice, some psycho with an axe, a falling tree, carbon monoxide, even falling asleep at the wheel getting to a mountain. If you can't accept the fact that sometimes "s**t happens", then you live with the illusion that your epic genius and profound wilderness intelligence has put you in total and complete control of yourself, your partners, and the mountain. Three female moose were in the mud pit late afternoon on Friday 9/24 and traffic was a mess due to moose peepers. Traffic from Denver was backed up for miles almost to the northern base of the pass.

We saw Kenosha, the moose, on Friday (July 1st) at about 8:00am. She had a baby "mooselet" that was nursing when we drove by (they were just before the pond at the pass when you are heading towards Jefferson). :-D

The moose are back at Kenosha Pass. Saw 2 at the pond on Friday 5/19. (Talked to someone else who saw 3 the same day.)
Every village has at least one idiot. Successful villages choose someone else to be their leader.
