I've heard of a few Texans that have finished all the 14ers and 13ers. Congratulations on the finish, Holy Cross Halo ridge was 1 of my favorite routes.

I get the sense that Holy Cross isn't such a common finisher, though I don't know for sure. Did you have a reason for saving that one for last, or did it just sort of work out that way? FWIW, Holy Cross is my favorite 14er so far. The route is really scenic, especially this time of year.
It came down to Pikes and Holy Cross. I didn’t like the idea of finishing on Pikes. I am so glad I chose Holy Cross. One of my friends went up to the old stone hut on Notch Mountain and got summit photos from there. Thanks!

Congrats on the long distance finish! =D>

I spent a few years down in Austin (though I seem to recall a few folks saying that's not really part of Texas... I forget why...) so I don't really share the ambivalence towards Texans.

Congrats on the distance finish!

I’m a Texan by birth (Air Force base in Abilene). Texans are good folks. Always the #2 state behind Colorado when Colorado Fourteeners Initiative tallies individual donations by state - our Texas brethren enjoy the 14ers and put their financial support behind the peaks (and our mountain towns) as well.

Wow. Thats actually super interesting to know.

They are also one of the biggest contributors to CO Parks and Wildlife funds (possibly the biggest source?)

Sidenote, as a Kansan 14er finisher, I know I'm in a small and elite group. Only because there isn't that many Kansans :P

I'm another Texas 14er finisher. I finished with North Maroon Peak on 8/11/2011. It 'only' took me 33 years to complete the task!

Congrats on your achievement.
How do you know when someone's from Colorado?
(Psst, I think it's the same answer....)

Thanks! Austin is more like California than the rest of Texas, so you be the judge of whether that is good or bad. I am staying out of that.

Thanks! I do know we spend a lot of money in CO. I am glad to hear the support is also seen at CFI.

Nice! Again, great to hear. I usually only hear about the damage that is blamed (rightly or wrongly) on Texans.

Cool! I thought it took me a long time! I hope to keep climbing for at least another 14 years.
