How is a cell phone supposed to broadcast your location without cell service? It can't by definition. Get an inReach with the recreation plan (the safety plan doesn't include unlimited tracking). It's more expensive but you can't put a price on your life.

Yes, Garmin is WAY better, but this is better than nothing which is what most people default to.

Zoleo satellite messenger has a breadcrumb trail feature that lets you share your location too.

Although if you do happen to have a cell phone connection you can share your location with anyone using the Google Maps app for free.

Haven't tried the tracking yet on my Zoleo but have sent locations and text messages easily.
