As far as permits on Angels Landing goes, it seems that simply removing the cables would solve most of the problems. Once the cables were removed on nearby Lady Mountain, the rescues and crowds basically disappeared overnight.

Yes, I saw that condor on my 2019 hike. I guess it was waiting for easy Chinese food.
I saw the plump condor at scout lookout years ago. Just waiting for a fall.

How about issuing a permit to post on this website if it’s more than once a week? It appears that some of the members who have been around a while feel the need to comment on everything and usually the comments aren’t very useful to any newcomers on this site. Over 8000 comments in a little more than 6000 days? Take a break

That's an average of 1.33 comments each day. How many new threads are started per day, on average? 3? That's hardly "commenting on everything." Scott is widely regarded as an authority on this site, and many will welcome his opinion and insight. If you don't want to read it, don't. Just keep scrolling. No one will ever know.

geez, posting messages on a message board? you'd almost think that's what it's here for.

This is one more reason I support the more generic national forest lands. Easier no permits. One wilderness area had no official trails so you can just go no hassles

I hate to see it but I'm pretty sure they already had backcountry permits several years ago when I was there so my initial thoughts were not much has changed. Gets kinda canned it's getting bombed and overrun though i suspect. So what do you do? And I'll grant you maroon bells looked like a hassle last time we went to Colo but we probably should have done it. Hate to see too much of this in the outdoors though, I go partly to get away from stuff like this.
I support reintroducing grizzlies and wolves to their historic ranges.
