Whitney permits to be issued starting July 3

Per the Inyo NF Facebook page, Whitney Portal will be opened and Whitney permits will be issued beginning July 3. There are some area restrictions due to the recent earthquake that triggered rockfall in the Portal, but it seems that the Mt. Whitney Trail and the MR will both be accessible. The Forest Service has been cancelling all Whitney Zone permits until the announcement yesterday.
