John Muir Trail from Yosemite - August 2020

Post by WanderingJim »

So, it took almost as long as the trek itself did, but I wrote up my daily reports and went though all my photos (all 9,000+ of them). I picked out the photo highlights, plus removed the blurry and embarrassing ones.

The reports were written with friends, family, co-workers, and hikers in mind. Some of the info may not be interesting to everyone, but hopefully you find most of it interesting and informative.

Some of the rants and complaining about switchbacks (and other things) may be exaggerated a little, but I did take notes on the trail so some of it is based on my thoughts at the time.

Fortunately, I wasn't on the trail when the fires exploded in September, but there was some impact from fires while I was on the JMT (days 20 and 24, in particular).

Enjoy!

I look forward to reading that trip report. 2-4 week through-hikes are on my bucket list in a few years here.

Ah, I did Yosemite to Bishop Pass a few years ago and finally got back this summer (end of July) for the final ~100 miles to Whitney. Among the best experiences of my life. I look forward to reading your report, thanks for sharing.
The days I keep my gratitude higher than my expectations, I have really good days.
