NYS Bears are active

Post by nyker »

In upstate New York, Rangers and the DEC have posted more "bear activity" signs around trailheads and recently closed several popular campsites.
Like most people who rarely see a bear, I usually look at the sign and think "ok, sure" and keep walking without too much worrying.
Low and behold, below are images that my trailcam caught by the cabin this week.
In short bears are pretty active now and are around the area, so if anyone is planning on hiking/camping in the Adirondacks, practice your "bear aware" strategies and keep a clean campsite.
