Yep, wettest place I have ever been. You can count on rain/snow in base camp in the autumn season almost every day at 1pm. I got a cough there early in the trip that I just couldn't shake with how damp it was and it ultimately ended my trip.

Here are some shots from camp 3 (22,000ft) in 2021 looking up towards the steep slope to camp 4. The sideways traverse through the serac to camp 4 where you can see it go left was short but one of the sketchiest things I have ever done with how avy prone it was. We started very early in the brutal cold to avoid crowds and make sure the snow was as consolidated as possible. That is where the avalanche occurred this year.

To get an idea here is the slope angle right where the avalanche occurred this year around 23,500ft before we turned left weaving through the serac. You can imagine with a serac right above and heavy new snow how dangerous this could be avalanche wise. We waited an extra 2 days at camp 3 before going up. Sorry for the grainy photo my camera was struggling in the cold.

My thoughts go out to all those who lost there lives this year. Rest in Peach Hilaree Nelson . . you were (are still) a legend.

I'm old, slow and fat. Unfortunately, those are my good qualities.
