Needing Hiking Buddy for Prep on 14er

Post by Family14er »

I am planning on doing a 14er with my family in July 2020. I'm not in the best shape and wanting to start to train. I'd like to take short hikes to start training. Currently, I walk a lot and exercise during lunch at work, but needing to actually hike on trails. I was wondering if anybody is interested in hiking on the weekends for a couple of hours (starting 6am and off the hike by 9 or 10am) or the evenings after work (starting 4pm to 7pm). I live in Parker, but work in the DTC area. Thanks in advance.

I have hiked bear peak by boulder several times after working in the DTC.
It is a great piece of exercise with a good amount of vertical for something so close.

I just moved to the area a couple months ago and did my first this past weekend (Bierstadt). There's no way I could have done so as easily if I didn't spend hours at the challenge hill at the MAC:

200 odd-spaced steps up and a half-mile downhill trek to give your pistons a good downhill beating. Heard there's another too...even more brutal:

Headin' there shortly myself. Bit of a loner when I'm training but all the best.

I would be interested. Can’t promise I can do it every weekend but when I can wouldn’t mind having a hiking partner. I too want to get in better shape over the next 10 months and possibly get my first 14er. Moved to south side of Aurora last year so not far from Parker. Let me know.
