1st 14'er climbed!
Yesterday I climbed Mount Sherman from Fourmile Creek road. I have wanted to climb a 14'er my whole life and finally it happened, and in significant part due to all the great advice I've received on this forum over the last year.
Thank you all very much.
I had to overcome a variety of physical problems to do this, including most recently PFS in my right knee and I was almost ready to give up and posted this thread asking for advice about hiking with injuries.

Nearly everyone encouraged me to keep pushing forward and I really appreciate that.
Whether or not I have it in me to keep at this, I don't know, but I can at least live life without regret having done it at least once.

Congratulations! I figured if you could climb Guadalupe Peak, you should be okay with Sherman.

About 7 hours, much longer than most people I'm sure. My knee brace was slowing me down, and had a 15lb pack of "just in case" stuff, which didn't appear to be typical.The Turtle wrote: ↑Sat Jul 09, 2022 4:20 pm I haven't climbed Sherman in several years, how long did it take you, round trip?
But, from several practice hikes, I had my speed pretty well dialed in so I started the hike at 5:30am.
