I read a post in nextdoor.com that this occurring in metro Denver too. Copycat thieves.

Be especially wary if you own a hybrid car,
they obviously run cleaner so the catalytic converters are worth more.
My prius has already had 2 stolen from it in the past 8 years.

According to some googling they're worth about $250 each in scrap.
Team of two, one with a jack, the other a sawzall. Takes less then a minute. And if they park where their car is blocking the view from the road, hard to see what they're doing.
This feels ripe for some Bait Car episodes.
