Three backpacks found at Browns Lake

Post by tlerunner »

Comanche Peak Wilderness.

The trail to Browns Lake opened recently after the Cameron Peak fire last year. I hiked up there yesterday and came across three fully packed backpacks along the shore of the lake which look like they have been there a while. Did someone leave them to flee the fire?

Could be from a trail crew? Check with Poudre Wilderness Volunteers, they frequent those trails and did a lot of trail work. Don't think they were abandoned but I thought i heard of hikers or backpackers evacuating quickly from a couple areas to the north.

Looks like some backpackers got helicoptered out of there (rescued) and had to dump weight.

Yeah, all three had fishing gear. Maybe now the trail has reopened they will hike back in to get their stuff?
