Andrew Hamilton Centennials Record Attempt

Post by jfm3 »

Andrew & Andrea announced on their joint Instagram page (check their Story post from today) that Andrew will be attempting to climb the Centennials in 20 days starting June 26. More information coming this week.

This could be a lot of fun to watch. It's been several years since anyone has really taken a crack at one of the "big" records for mountains in this state (the last one I can remember was Eric's 14er speed attempt in 2016?). I look forward to tracking the GPS dots.

Apparently the peaks (except for the last few feet on Bross) opened up this weekend, but just to make sure, I dropped a message to CFI. The closure was only supposed to last a few weeks, but no thanks to the people who intentionally said they would violate it during the negotiations.

The Nonstandard 14er Podcast has a nice 2 part interview with him that includes some strategy discussion.

Low snow year should help a lot. Very few snow patches above treeline last weekend.

The insane amount of weekday highway construction everywhere could slow things.
