Large Avalanche Reported in Tampa Bay

Post by Carl_Healy »

A large Avalanche was reported less than an hour ago in the vicinity of Amalie Arena in Tampa Bay, Florida.

It is uncertain at this time what triggered the avalanche, but reports indicate that a local hockey team was caught in the slide.
Thankfully none of the affected party was buried or seriously injured.
This is especially fortunate given that no one in the party, nor nearby witnesses (of which there were many), were equipped with beacons, probes, or shovels to assist if needed.
One member of a visiting hockey team, who may have caused the slide, quipped that they were in possession of a large silver goblet that could have been used to dig snow if necessary but others questioned the efficacy of this claim.

No SAR is being mobilized at this time.

Odd, normally this time of year you have to be more careful of Lightning than Avalanches.
