Say NO to the sharpie summit

Post by d_baker »

Sign a summit register. Don't sign a rock.
No register? Then don't sign anything.
It will be ok, it's not that important we/you/I write our names or the name of a mountain while on the summit. Isn't our/your/my brain enough to commemorate the experience? Mind a little fuzzy? Take a picture then. (My mind is sometimes fuzzy too, I'm not picking on you.)
It really is that simple!

GRRRRRR...damn Sharpies. I hope you turned the rock over or removed it from the area as to not encourage others. I hate when folks do this...
"Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home; that wilderness is a necessity; and that mountain parks and reservations are useful not only as fountains of timber and irrigating rivers, but as fountains of life..."

And if you come across one of these eyesores, please bury the rock text facing down in the summit cairn/wind block. If there is no pile of rocks, place it on the ground text facing down away from the summit. Thank you.

Jon K had the right idea, just toss a grafitti'd rock down a couloir.

If it hits the person who signed the rock then I'm fine with it.

Who here remembers the "Elbert Lameness" thread from about 10 years ago? Classic, should have been in the Hall of Fame. I searched for it some time ago but couldn't find it, Bill must have deleted it.
