Michael, it takes a big person to admit to this community a wrongdoing of this nature as we take Leave No Trace very seriously. Your words are appreciated, and I'm glad a learning has come of this. As you know, it will take some effort for the graffiti to be removed. I would suggest that if anybody on this thread is successful in their endeavor to hike up there and remove it, you offer them something to repay them for their effort to correct the situation. Just a thought.Michaelv wrote: ↑Tue Dec 01, 2020 12:35 ampowhound wrote: ↑Mon Nov 30, 2020 8:47 pm Found this on Quandary's summit today. It's on too large a rock to flip over and hide it. If anyone knows what works best please chime in. It's located on the west side of the summit. Thanks.

I recently hiked Quandary Peak and I had vandalized a rock with a sharpie pen. I do want say I respect those who did reach out to me to acknowledge the wrongs I did. I want to deeply apologize to everyone of how selfish and disrespectful I was. I do regret my decision and wish I could go back and clean it off. Sadly, I am not from or live near Colorado to take responsibility to clean it off.
Once I made it to the top of the peak, I had so much adrenaline. I wasn’t clearing thinking and I decided to leave my mark. I was not thinking of the consequences of the damage I was doing.
As a first timer, I loved the hike and the beautiful nature environment. I clearly did not follow the law and deeply regret my decision. In the future, I will remember to follow the laws and not do something like this again.
And please educate others in your own circle, too, if you think there may be anybody newer to hiking or whatnot who may not be aware of the importance of Leave No Trace. Always great to share the knowledge!
