Haha. I wish! That was 10 years ago...

Moved here in May of 2017
Hiked Bear Peak
Then Bison Peak
Then the incline
Then there were 24 14ers from June through October
Started with Evans, then Gray's and Torreys followed by the Decalibron. Once I realized I could do multiple peaks in a day or weekend that was it I was hooked for the rest of the season.

Attempted lenawee after a half day of skiing at a-basin. Almost made it.
I has
I had a great time.
later that evening I had one of the worst headaches of my life as I only drank about 1 quart if water.
This bugged me, do I joined the CMC thinking I could learn how to enjoy the mountains and still feel good while learning to be safe.
First summit was Bethel, memorial weekend m 1987 following a day hike to chasm junction with 2 friends in a blizzard to try out new equipment.
1st 14er was Torreys, June 1987.
1st backpack to east and west spanish peaks, june 1987.
2nd 14er to Capitol, July 1987.
1st out of country peak was Tungurahua, 16,000 ish in Ecuador, 1990.
Then we made it to 18,700 on ancohuma 21,086 in Bolivia, July 1992.
Still enjoying the mountains 33 years after 1st hike.

My first 14er was Mt. Bierstadt. I was with my older brother and two of his friends. Pretty sure that my mother had something to do with me being able to tag along with the older guys. Thanks Mom! This was summer 1973 (dang, it really hurts to put that number down). I think I am WAY overdue for a return trip. Do summits expire? Was it a little bit taller then? I'll definitely look at 50th anniversary return for this and also Quandary Peak. Oh by the way, the willows were there in 1973. I was soaked within 10 minutes of leaving the car.

First 13er (unranked) was an unplanned summit of Brown's Peak in 1994. Never got back to the actual plan (Huron Peak) until 2012. First ranked 13er would be East Buffalo Peak Y2K.

First 12er must be Mt. Chapman over by Hancock Pass. This was in 2012.

Grays and Torreys were my first hike in Colorado ... started out easier to be sure I could handle it coming from KC.

Matt wrote: Wed Jan 06, 2021 12:15 pm Longs Peak was first, during a 2002 roadie in which I moved from the midwest to Albuquerque. I had no business being there, but made the summit.
To this day, that feels like one of the greatest accomplishments of my life, more so than even finishing the CO 14ers.
Elbert was next a couple months later.
I guess I share a lot in common with T. Matt in this area.

Long's Peak
Just a year earlier than him.
I also had no business there.
Also what I consider to be a great accomplishment considering the stupid rookie mistakes (carrying a 3 pound flashlight, a Wal-Mart backpack, not enough water, etc).

Pikes Peak sometime during the summer of 1970. Mom dropped a buddy and myself at the Manitou Incline, which we rode up. Backpacked up to the A-frame. Climbed the Peak the next day, and backpacked down to the top of the Incline and rode down. Called Mom and she came and picked us up.
