Maybe Handies from a camp at Sloan Lk in American Basin? Would be easy terrain for a night hike and Sloan Lk is at 12,900' so not a huge distance to hike without packs. Not sure if Handies has good line of sight to the Window

This would have been in 97. There were 2 leaders and ~6 teenagers. All of us had backpacked/climbed before but definitely not experienced enough to do anything difficult. The window was to our backs during climb up.
Sounds like eolus.

The Window won't be visible until you are almost to the summit of any of the Chicago Basin 14ers if done by the standard routes. It may not be visible at all from Eolus due to Norh Eolus and Sunlight blocking the view

After I post this, I thought that Sunlight could possibly block any view of the window from eolus.
