Fully Realizing the 3000ft Rule

I felt that when I had to walk up Lake Como road three separate times for each of the 14ers there, I should have some allowance built up in elevation credit to use on a peak like Lincoln!

HA. We can always look at it that way,
or if I hike the como road to camp. Gain less than 3k hiking any of the peaks, but gained approximately 4k backpacking to camp, then it does not count.
Therefore I will be required to hike all of them separately from a low point on the como road in order for me to claim an official 3k gained, 14er summit.

PS. Funny you mentioned Lincoln. When I hike Cameron I was noticing that I either start from Montgomery reservoir, or just a little past alma if coming from kite lake.

Montgomery Reservoir Parking (10,900'): Yes
Paris Mill Parking en route to Kite Lake TH (11,000'): Yes

Parking at Paris Mill adds 2.7 mi each way.

Surely a true 3k rule purist would retract Cameron from consideration. You can't nitpick elevation gain rules without also nitpicking prominence rules; that's just inconsistent. And if you insist on including it the least you could do is include South Bross too.

I thought south bross was included on the list of 74.
That being points in Colorado over 14,000 feet.
Of course, some argue it should be 75 points, which would include sunlight spire. Although at 13,995 I am not sure how it qualifies.

Well, those 7er people are cray cray.

and don't even start on the low-pointers. you'll need to descend 3000 ft if you want those bragging rights. you can't claim to bag Badwater Basin unless you start at least 2718' above sea level. you better have a lot of vacation time saved up if you want to shoot for bagging the Florida low-point.

I am questioning the motivation behind the accomplishment. That is, wanting to brag.

My motivation for climbing something is honestly none of your business. I get that you may have some issues that prevent you from understanding sarcasm but to continue to follow me to PM just to tell me that no one will care about my accomplishments because they're not 8000M peaks is pretty douchey. How do you know what all other people will care about? My friends must be much more easily impressed than the people you hang out with.

I don't think any summit counts unless you start your route from sea level.

Makes for a pretty long hike for any summit in Colorado.
