CMC Peak Crushers
Figured the below might be of interest to some here:
"In cooperation with several board members interested in the art of light and fast movement in the mountains, the Colorado Mountain Club is piloting a new Denver-area program titled Peak Crushers. This program is aimed at competent runner-scramblers wishing to improve their speed and efficiency in higher altitudes and on ridges.
The pilot program is open to the first 8 women and first 8 men who apply and meet the minimum fitness and competency qualifications. The program runs April – September and requires that you commit to attending all sessions (dates below).
Pilot program participants should:
be able to run 5 miles on rough trail with an minimum average pace of 12-minute miles,
be extremely comfortable with 3rd and 4th class terrain un-roped, and
be familiar with a comfortable with lightweight gear in the mountain environment.

Thanks for sharing! I applied!
Re: CMC Peak Crushers
sounds fun but im no runner. I will keep with my plans of Leading High Peaks trips where we just plan to move as fast as we can but not run.
Good luck on the new program!
Good luck on the new program!
No Mountain too steep, No trail too long....
Re: CMC Peak Crushers
Ha - "mountain running" is a bit of a misnomer for all but the top 3% of mountain athletes. Fast hike the steeper grades and run the flats and downs.
Don't be fooled by the objectives either. The guys running this program are legit and training people for harder objectives outside the course - Jason Antin and Jesse Mattner. A few more local sorts, including myself, will be helping out with some runs.

Suburbia?

Privileged inflexible crap where they assume the people don't actually have to work on the weekends. Frustrating as all hell to constantly feel excluded because people never want to schedule anything during the day during the week. We get it, most people in the middle class don't work on weekends. Trouble is, a lot of people who climb mountains aren't in the middle class.

Yeah I think their goal with this program was class warfarePtglhs wrote: ↑Thu Apr 08, 2021 6:41 pm Privileged inflexible crap where they assume the people don't actually have to work on the weekends. Re: CMC Peak Crushers
Of course it's not their goal. The point is they didn't think of people who aren't like them, and people who want to be part of the group but can't because of work schedules get frustrated because we're always excluded. Our options are: take off work without pay and go, or miss out. Rather than take a reductio ad absurdum approach you could acknowledge all of the people who wouldn't be able to attend hikes which are only on Saturdays. *eyeroll*

Re: CMC Peak Crushers
I’d rather do these routes on a weekday by myself any day of the week.
