Long's Peak camping boulder field

Post by nunns »

I am sure this has been discussed before, but it probably merits another round.
Is a permit required in order to camp at the Long's Peak boulder field?

Is that true for "Winter" or "Off-Season" months as well?

Maybe, I'm mixing up reservations and permits?

Backcountry Camping Permits are required year round. There are two different systems, however. Summer (May thru Oct) is the standard 'reserve a site' system. The Winter season (Nov thru April) switches to a zone-type system where different stream/river drainages are given X number of permits and you camp within that drainage.

As you would expect Summer ones have become very hard to get exactly what you want. Winter ones are the opposite.
