Probably dangerous and I spent half the time on my ass on the descent. I might have to climb it again because I think the accepted summit changed due to the LiDAR findings.

I should balance this out with one I absolutely loved and that was Pilot Knob. I was apprehensive about it given its fierce reputation but it was easier than expected and more fun than you can shake a stick at. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
Huerfanito: Totally agree. That's one of the few peaks listed here that I've completed, and it was pretty awful trying to crawl up the east/southeast side. Going down via its west/northwest side was slightly better, but maybe only because I was sliding down and not going up. You are correct - I found the eastern tower to be the highest via lidar. I'll see if John can add a note about the location having changed from the previous one.

Pilot Knob: Definitely agree. One of my favorites! Great views, too.

Hanson Peak: there's a road on the west face of it. Wait, no there isn't.
Saw your condition report on this. For reference the California gulch side is a good gentle walkup. :-D

The lesson I'm taking from this is that I have to learn to climb snow.
The days I keep my gratitude higher than my expectations, I have really good days.

While I also fall into the camp of "hate is a strong word" and have enjoyed things about every peak I've hiked, I'll go ahead and throw another mountain into the running, because one did instantly come to mind and actually (mostly) shares its name with one of my musical guilty pleasures:

No. Potosi has a variety of good routes. If you do it in the summer, don't take the route in all the TRs. Here's the correct way(s):

I still need to go up and/or down Senator but assume that's more of a volcanic chunder slog.
Via the Bimetallist Mine with the class 2 bypass is my recommendation for summer.

I looked, and haven't noticed a theme. Peak choices are a function of having 4x4 (or not), affinity for driving, fitness level, home base, love(or lack of thereof) of backpacking, talus tolerance, preference for aesthetic routes, time-off, age, motivation, etc.

But to your point, I have been avoiding the Gores and long boring RMNP slogs (high effort/low peak count ratio). I much rather dash to SJs/Sawatch/Elks and get 5-7 peaks per weekend. Slogging Mummy-Hagues-Fairchild this summer really makes me dread Copeland, Isolation, Ogallala, etc. Eva-Parry-Flora were also Type III for me.

Huerfanito was fine. We found a fun scrambly ridge on lookers right from the basin. Descent towards Lindsey trail was slip and slide, glad we didn't come up that way. The crux was definitely the endless drive, ugh.

As much as I love SJs and can generally tolerate choss, Hayden Mountain North traverse from Hayden Mtn South was pretty awful, but I am sure this can be fixed by skiing it from Red Mountain pass side.

Most of the ones mentioned here make good snow climbs

I think my least favorite are in the mosquito range, windswept boring piles of rock

Gladstone was one of the most miserable 13ers for me (especially since I didn’t get on the right summit block and will have to go back). But, like all the rest of the mountains that folks seem to hate, it probably wouldn’t be so bad on snow/skis. Natalie brings up a good point about the views in the SJs. The peaks can be darn miserable in summer but the lakes and the views make up for it. Good thing for short term memory!
Kinda curious about missing the Gladstone summit block. I pulled up my pictures from the summit and there was no big block like on Snowmass just small rocks and a crowbar sticking up. The actual summit would be tough to miss since steep ridges from several directions meet at the top and there was no false summit.

+1!!
Especially time-off. I'd also add job flexibility and socio-economic status to this list. Cost-wise, I wonder what kind of pricetag one accrues visiting all the 584 (ranked) 13ers? ..Perhaps a simple rough calculation... Gas, food and gear. feel free to add or critique!
For Gas
Assume:
1. Each trip is ~500mi RT driving. I estimated this using a trip from the front range (Longmont CO) to Gunnison CO and back.
2. 4 peaks/trip. At 584 ranked 13ers, thats 146 trips or 73K miles
3. Gas $3/gal (CO avg last 10 years)
4. decently good gas mileage ~ avg 30mpg (Includes 4x4 slo-going trips, think Beartown...)
5. no carpooling. sharing is caring, on your wallet and environment....
One 500mi trip at 30mpg and $3/gal comes out to roughly $50.1/trip (16.7gal burned).
With 146 trips thats $7,314 and 2400 gallons of gas burned (yikes CO2)

For Food
Tricky, depends on palate...I shop at discount groceries and rarely eat at restaurants
Assume:
1. Just food chowed on the trip, not feasts consumed the day(s) after.
2. Um, $12/day and 3 days/trip?
So, $36/trip x 146 trips = $5,256

For Gear
Depends on thriftiness and preferences. things wear out, get lost, etc. Remember this is spread out over 146 trips
Assume:
1. Summer+fall trips, little/no snow
2. decent gear at full price: 2 Rain jackets $120 ea, 3 mid-layer jackets $100ea, 2 light jackets $50ea, 3 upper base layers $45ea, 3 lower base layers $30ea, 5 wicking T-shirts $35ea, 12 pairs socks $15ea, 3 pairs pants $65ea, 4 pairs shorts $40ea, 4 pairs gloves $18ea, 3 winter hats $25ea, 12 pairs merrell moab ventilators $100ea, 10 bottles sunscreen at $6.50ea, 5 pairs sunglasses $15ea, 3 day-packs $80ea, 2 Backpacking packs $180ea, 5 Nalgenes $8ea, 2 water filter systems $30ea, 1 two-man tent $100, 1 sleeping pad $50, 1 sleeping bag $120, 1 climbing rope at $150, 1 helmet $60, 1 pair climbing shoes $120, 1 harness $50, 1 screwgate carabiner+ATC $30. I'll stop here for now
Gear total= $4442 :-k ...seems high to me

Grand total =$17,012 ($7314 gas+ $5,256 food+ $4442 gear). Not insignificant by any means.
For fun, time spent: 146 trips x 3days/trip = 438 days or 1.2 years

Statistical in nature, meaning not one, but many. SnowAlien's list of other factors don't go to one peak, but many. I suppose I could've said more in my original post.

Tdawg,
Gas checks out ($50/weekend), food seems low (closer to $20-30 per day with breakfast/snacks). Gear seems about right. 1 pair of shoes lasts about 50-60 peaks

More costly - wear & tear on the car, translating into much faster depreciation ($20k (?)) and wear and tear on the joints, potentially knee and hip replacements down the road.
