Fireball Hits Longs Peak: Thursday 1/6/22 at 6am

Post by bdloftin77 »

Please avoid Longs Peak at all costs on Thursday morning. I was notified by a fellow 14ers.com member that a fireball is forecast to hit the summit at around 6am.

Okay, all kidding aside, that's a pretty crazy temperature spike! Good thing it doesn't show up in the summary day-to-day forecast. Anyone else see any crazy errors like this on weather.gov?

Safe hiking, and have a Happy New Year!

You stand up on your hill they bebop all around you,
They wonder where you're from, oh yeah, They wonder where I found you.

I may be missing something obvious, but any idea how that error spike happened? Interesting that the relative humidity reading inversely went the other direction at the exact same time. Any NOAA or other meteorologists in the know? Or anyone?
