Halo Ridge Camping?

Post by iamalex »

Hi - Thinking of backpacking up Halo Ridge for Holy Cross this weekend, has anyone ever camped on this route? Have tried finding info online, but haven't been able to fund much.

Rocky and no water source along route. Not sure what's acceptable around Notch shelter.

Yes, I did this a couple years ago and found a great camping spot in a large meadow near 11,700 (with a water source nearby), just before the route starts switchbacking up to the ridge. Incredible sunset and views of the stars. However, you'll need good weather to camp there as it is above treeline and unprotected.

I was just there last Monday Climbing Notch mountain. A couple of little creeks still have water but not much. There are a couple of places before you start climbing up on Rocky terrain That would be OK for camping. But not much. Good luck!
Never,never give up!.
