It's our website. We have an overly active security firewall sometimes. Should be cleared up shortly, sorry!
Re: Backcountry Ski & Snowboard Routes: Colorado
Our first book events are coming up this week, starting tomorrow. We'd love to see some fellow 14ers.com members in Basalt, Edwards, and GJ. All our dates can be found here: https://14erskiers.com/blog/book-tour-events/

I also picked up Lou Dawson’s new book. Pretty unimpressive, to be frank. I’d pick up Frank's book instead if you are looking for a more valuable resource.
Re: Backcountry Ski & Snowboard Routes: Colorado
What did you not like about the Dawson book? I was thinking of getting it.....

Geared towards CO novice. About 1/3 devoted to ski area uphill access. I am a big Dawson fan, so perhaps the problem was my expectations not the product.

Thanks for clarifying that. If it's for novices as you say it is, it might be perfect for me and us novices.
I should be on a mountain

Novices, or low angle/avy safe areas?lodgling wrote:Geared towards CO novice. About 1/3 devoted to ski area uphill access. I am a big Dawson fan, so perhaps the problem was my expectations not the product.
Re: Backcountry Ski & Snowboard Routes: Colorado
I’ll stick with novices. Those with even a couple of years experience exploring the standard low angle shots won’t learn much if anything. In contrast, the book this thread was originally about has a ton of novel information.
Re: Backcountry Ski & Snowboard Routes: Colorado
Well this is disappointing. I was hoping for a guidebook full of easy tours for those High Avy days or casual exercise days. Seems lazy on the author to fill 1/3 of the book with resort info........lodgling wrote:Geared towards CO novice. About 1/3 devoted to ski area uphill access. Thanks.

Spring ski mountaineering season is just about here. Curious if anyone has any feedback on some of our bigger routes yet...

Summit was skiing pretty well in March before the recent series of storms shot the avy risk way up. Buffalo, Hagar, Coinslot were all good. Recent storms should definitely help the coverage even more (i.e. Torreys). Range that shall not be named certainly looks appealing.
