Backcountry skiing this weekend 10/12 - 10/14

Post by mountainman713 »

The mountains have been receiving significant snowfall this week and it appears to continue into the weekend. Has anyone been backcountry skiing in the front range this week? I am looking for recommendations.

- Loveland Pass on north and east facing slopes may be one option

I´m planning on skiing old reliable on Loveland this Friday. people have been skiing near Alma lately but i don´t know much about this. Keep the angle low and be ready for core shots.

FYI SNOTEL sites in the area are showing 2-4" of snow... I've been watching the a-basin cams and they don't have enough snow to really even cover the grass. With another 6" in the forecast at best, plus some likely melting on Friday on Saturday, I'd love to see what you end up finding up there :)

The route has been skied a couple times already in the season and it gets filled very easily. I wouldn’t be surprised to ski the top and then hike out but I’ll take it.

Skied old reliable on Loveland pass today. At least 12 inches base up top with great powder conditions. The exit was rocky and a little sketch but still manageable. Go ski before this layer screws up the snowpack for a while.

A few people skied Berthoud yesterday but it was super thin and I think they were probably a little premature.

skied Berthoud on the 15th and it was great. probably melted down pretty thin now, though.

Great skiing last week too outside of Gothic. Ski it to break up future facets.

Fun snow.
