Any good lines left?

Post by SchralpTheGnar »

Anyone got any bets on some good lines left in the front/summit zones, thinking like 1500 vert or so, Preferably with untouched powder but any conditions will do.

Sundance Mtn North Bowl was a wonderful ride on Sunday! There was still 1800' of nice continuous snow from the the Toll Memorial and went almost all the way down to Fall River Road. The climb out was dreamy easy with a booter already in place. Just used snowboard boots and an axe, others may want cramps but we were fine without.
I could not believe how much snow was sticking around there! Get you some!

Be careful without crampons on Sundance. As the snow melts later in the season (like now) the booters are thin and the final headwall is very tricky and takes people by surprise. I've had to race to the road twice to get help to evacuate people from the rocks at the bottom
when they tried to climb without crampons. I snowboard in mountaineering boots and allows quick change into axe and crampons for a safe return to the road. The other alternative if you don't have crampons is to call it at the roll over to the final headwall and ski to the skier's right edge. I've done this many times when the headwall was an ice rink. Very little powder to be found this time of year, though. But one can dream.

We skied Emperor on Fri, it still goes for almost 3k with a few rock sections to navigate. Still goes from the summit. It won't last long. Quite a few people skied Tuning Forks as well and said it was good. Dead dog still goes as well.
We skied Grays on Sat, down to the Torreys saddle and down the couloir from there. Goes from the summit for 2k.

Had to take advantage of the excellent access.
