The rescue operation Sunday relied on the helicopter piloting skills of Mark Duffy of Central Copters, who flew all seven short haul rescues Sunday morning before attending the afternoon funeral of his son Tom Duffy.

Last year about this same time there was a death of a Minnesota man on Granite Peak. It would be a much more deadly mountain if it was more popular like a CO 14er.

Yes, obviously extremely sad incidents.

I cannot speak to the snow bridge incident, but second incident took the life of an extremely well-known and competent East Idaho climber. Apparently their rappel anchor (a very large boulder as I understand), broke loose taking Kevin's life. Kevin was with his brothers and father at the time of the accident.

Kevin was considered a pioneer of climbing in the Lost River Range:
