Sad news from the San Juans, lot of grieving in the town currently. Poverty Gulch is an alternative route that is used for Vermillion from the Telluride side.

It looks like the avalanche came down the west face of Pilot Knob. The area received 5 inches of snow over the previous two days. A little surprising that CAIC forecast did not have heightened conditions on the west and south facing slopes.
