Considering ATV purchase to make it to trailheads

Then again I know many people that call 4wd/4x4 trucks "ATVs", so maybe the OP meant a 4wd truck/vehicle by saying ATV? If that's the case and you live in CO and you will be spending a lot of time outdoors, then it probably makes sense since you'll be using it for many other things. If not and you mean ATV like a Quad/Trike (do they still make those?), then agree with the above comment at least with respect to 13er/14ers THs. If you want one for hunting or have acreage to use it on at home, then that's a different story. While I complained about it when doing it, hiking up the 4wd roads to the many peaks that have rougher trailhead roads allowed me to better acclimate on those days and felt I climbed better and was warmer by the time I got to 11,12k where many SUVs drove to and I never had to worry about the "3000ft rule". After all, we come to the mountains to hike more not less. I can sit in a vehicle anywhere.
