Highway 92 Detour
Can Scott P or anyone let me know if Highway 92 is still a feasible detour for the Hwy 50 closure? Probably doesn't matter, but mostly interested in north (Delta) to south (Curecanti) direction.

Re: Highway 92 Detour
Yes, I did that detour last week. It adds about 1.5 hours depending on your driving speed, but is an option if you don't time getting through the 50 closure right.

I've used it a couple of times, and I really don't think it adds too much extra time if you are headed to or from the Delta & GJ area.

BTW- US50 is now open to two-way traffic until further notice because of the I-70 closure: https://www.us50info.com/

Re: Highway 92 Detour
Apologies for the shameless thread appropriation, how is Kebler Pass (CR 12) for lower clearance 2WD sedans this summer?

Kebler is fine for any 2wd vehicle. I have driven my Ford Fusion over a couple times this summer

Re: Highway 92 Detour
Only thing I would be concerned about taking this route is the semis on some of the curves, had a couple almost force me off the road on the way down to Gunnison.greenonion wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 10:13 am Can Scott P or anyone let me know if Highway 92 is still a feasible detour for the Hwy 50 closure? Re: Highway 92 Detour
Thanks folks. Looking like moot for a while due to Glenwood closure. Thanks for pointing that out, Intrepid.
Re: Highway 92 Detour
As of today I was told that US 50 and US 285 were both to remain open until I-70 opens. Since my project is dependent on the shutdown of US 285, I guess that puts me out of work for a while.
I'm old, slow and fat. Unfortunately, those are my good qualities.
Re: Highway 92 Detour
I just used 92 about 11 days ago to get to poncha springs for shavano.
It added over 2 hours and 60 miles to the normal route. I will be going east on 50 on Friday evenings from now on as for me, the detour is quite inconvenient.

Re: Highway 92 Detour
It's been a number of years since I drove it, but when I last did Kebler was a two lane gravel road drivable by any standard passenger car. Not open in the winter, IIRC.Andrew Russell wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 1:03 pmKebler is fine for any 2wd vehicle. I have driven my Ford Fusion over a couple times this summer
