I went up in 2018, and made it in my stock Forester. If the road now is in similar shape (which it sounds like it is), I would think it comes down to clearance, picking a line, and the driver... In theory that is. After reading some recent reports, as I'm considering getting back up there in the next week or two, this is all encouraging.

My 2008 4 runner with 10 ply BFG tires made it up and down in 4 High with zero issue this past Saturday. Would even go as far as saying it was fun. My 2000 Honda Civic would not make it up. Parking lot was mostly 4WD vehicles and a couple of Subi's. Saw a few wanna be 4WD vehicles like Honda CRVs bailed lower down. I did this road twice in 2018 and it was about 10 times worse. It is in good shape now but is not suitable for Honda Civics or mini vans.
