Re: 4WD Road on Antero

I was up there a few days ago in a stock 1/2 ton pickup. The first three miles are brutal and I parked after the river crossing to camp. Then the next two or three miles to the top of the high plateau are not bad but narrow. The last bit that goes up to point 13,800' brutal as well. All I saw up there were 4Runners, quads, and modified Jeeps. I talked to and watched the geologist go up the last stretch in his stock 4runner and it looked rough. He has been going up all summer and he has plastic hanging down in his underbody and the thing sounds pretty terrible driving by.

I'd say hike it or rent some 4 wheelers and a trailer if you want to drive up it.
