Argentine Pass/Road 260 in November
Possibly interested in trying just Grays from Argentine Pass TH in early or mid Nov. Does the 260 road close for winter at the intersection of the Montezuma road, or further up near Chihuahua Gulch? And is it, or will it be closed by then?

Closed at the pavement: https://www.14ers.com/php14ers/trailhea ... hparm=fr07.
Skimming through the conditions entries, it looks like it is not uncommon to be open still around Thanksgiving. I'm sure it's a case of closing at the first major snowstorm.
I enjoyed that approach to G&T, though that 1500' climb from near Grays Lake to the upper ridge is steep.

So just to be sure, the pavement is where the 260 dirt road begins at the Montezuma road, correct? And thanks for the info on when it might close based on first major snow storm. I should have caught that myself.madmattd wrote: ↑Fri Oct 08, 2021 12:22 pm Closed at the pavement: https://www.14ers.com/php14ers/trailhea ... hparm=fr07.

Per this report and others it remains open weather permitting into late November. Maybe Bill will chime in as he has lots of fall reports on this access.

Yep, it turns to dirt a few yards past the intersection Carl circled, and the gate is there.greenonion wrote: ↑Fri Oct 08, 2021 12:51 pm So just to be sure, the pavement is where the 260 dirt road begins at the Montezuma road, correct? Re: Argentine Pass/Road 260 in November
Hi All, Came across this thread. Does anyone know if Peru Creek (260) is closed now? I'm thinking about a Grays South Ridge-Torreys West Ridge traverse this weekend. If closed, will probably just go up Grays normal route to Torryes West Ridge traverse to Loveland. Thank you!

I was on it today and it's closed for the season. Added quite a few miles to my Ruby trip
