Re: night sky pictures
Multi-stacked pic taken at Hurferano/Lily Lake trailhead with Blanca Peak in the center. Set the timer on my camera, placed it on the tripod, focus and went to sleep.

Re: night sky pictures
I’m a pilot and I have always thought nighttime arial mountain photography would be an interesting project. Would need some really good conditions. Maybe as I get better at flying I’ll reach out to this group for some photographers haha.

Re: night sky pictures
Anyone have any shots of the aurora, particularly within the northern continental U.S. (I know, rare to see them that far south most years)? But with entering a solar maximum, was thinking we might get better chances of seeing them now. I've seen recent geomagnetic activity with K values of 4/5 recently.
Maybe places like Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, NY, new England, etc...

A recent backpacking trip to Lost Creek. A little bit of moon light on the rock formation. And some city lights on the horizon from Denver & Colorado Springs. I couldn't get all the people to turn off their porch lights. lol

Re: night sky pictures
Great pictures all the way around. I haven't seen Skyline Arch for years. Beautiful. I used to be obsessed with the Moab area landscape. I remember camping with my young boys out in the open in a precarious crack in the rocks. A sandstorm came up and pelted the tar out of us. With eyes closed I had to feel my way around and lower them down to get into a vehicle. We woke up with red sand in every part of our body and dried blood all over us.
I was hooked. My boys still love going there. This was back in 95, we just went and got a camping spot up North there. I think now you need a lawyer to do that.

"Quicker than I can tell it, my hands failed to hold, my feet slipped, and down I went with almost an arrow’s rapidity. An eternity of thought, of life, of death, wife, and home concentrated on my mind in those two seconds. Fortunately for me, I threw my right arm around a projecting boulder which stood above the icy plain some two or three feet." Rev. Elijah Lamb

Different moon phases & focal length for a 24+ hour period. Night shots taken from Mt. Cutler looking over Colorado Springs & day pic taken at Garden of the Gods.
