Re: Fall Colors 2019
Actually, here's what it looked like during peak going back to 2014. Peak in 3-5 days looks about right. Wow. Also, no bare spots yet this year. Bodes well methinks.

Re: Fall Colors 2019
Mt Evans and Chicago Lakes Thursday Sept 26 were still more than 50% green. Unusually tardy this year. Peak within a few days.
Re: Fall Colors 2019
Argentine Pass on Saturday (9/28) was pretty much peak.

Re: Fall Colors 2019
A lot of leaves had fallen overnight Saturday around Twin Lakes with the stiff winds. I’d guess that by next weekend there might be a few good stands, but a lot of places will be bare.

Re: Fall Colors 2019
Great work. I always hit Maroon Bells lake every Sept 23rd. But, this year would have been too early. Thanks for this comparison.pbergmaier wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2019 8:36 pmActually, here's what it looked like during peak going back to 2014. Peak in 3-5 days looks about right. Wow. Re: Fall Colors 2019
The road into Marshall Pass was amazing on Friday (with lots of time still to go) ... my sister took photos. I will post when she sends them to me.
Happy trails!
Happy trails!

As if none of us have ever come back with a cool, quasi-epic story instead of being victim to tragic rockfall, a fatal stumble, a heart attack, an embolism, a lightning strike, a bear attack, collapsing cornice, some psycho with an axe, a falling tree, carbon monoxide, even falling asleep at the wheel getting to a mountain. If you can't accept the fact that sometimes "s**t happens", then you live with the illusion that your epic genius and profound wilderness intelligence has put you in total and complete control of yourself, your partners, and the mountain. How mystified you'll be when "s**t happens" to you! - FM

Re: Fall Colors 2019
Did the million dollar highway and drove through Lake City on the way there. MDH is near prime right now on the north side but the south side needs another couple of days/maybe week. Wind is blowing everything off the trees so I would get to it soon if you want "best colors". Lake City, specifically Slumgullion Pass is electric right now, absolutely prime. Beautiful time to be enjoying the state!

Here are a couple from last week ... I wish I could have stayed another week to really see them change.

Today (10/2) at the Lost Creek Wilderness. Higher terrain has mostly turned, some lower areas are mixed.

Re: Fall Colors 2019
The Cripple Creek area was at peak this past week, hopefully the wind didn't hit it too hard the past few days.
Kenosha Pass and Colorado Trail to Georgia Pass are just past peak, but still really pretty. The pass itself has lost a lot of it's leaves because of the wind.
Golden Gate Canyon State Park is nice right now, and at or near peak with some of the trees having dried up and lost their leaves already.
In general it seems like the Front Range is at/past peak and disappearing fast. Gettem while it's hot.
