Plants and Trees

Post by nyker »

We see them every day, walking, hiking and driving past them.
There has to be some that make you stop and wonder and marvel.
I'll start with some cool saguaro specimens from Arizona.

Very cool, guys!

Here are two plants I came across this past summer looping around Lumpy Ridge. The one little shrub was really cool, with psychedelic red stems. The stems and branches just seemed to glow! I've never been able to truly ID them, so if anyone knows what it is, I'd appreciate it.

The second is just common Mullein, but when I came across it, it somehow reminded me of saguaros. Yours are much nicer, Nyke!

I really love the splash of color that the Western Paintbrush adds to the mountain landscape.

No trees are more impressive to me than the Coast Redwood. If you have never been out that way, it's definitely worth a stop.

Bald Cypress in and around Caddo Lake, TX. Magical place I have been drawn back to several years in a row now.

One of my coolest finds was stumbling onto wild Venus fly traps in North Carolina.

This very determined elm in my old Chicago suburb makes me think about the show "Life After People"
