Let's See Your Christmas Tree

Post by Wentzl »

I have enjoyed getting an $8 permit and driving up west from Montrose on hwy 90 to the forest service boundary to chop a tree for the past few years. Some years the road is blocked by snow, others, not so much. This year the log trucks are still running, which is a unusual. But the drought did allow me to drive much further up than usual, and I found this.

Along with the main tree, a white one, one in the stairway, and lights on two ficus plants, we used to set this one up as well - easy to decorate!

I love seeing my friends pictures with their families cutting down trees every year, but I grew up with fake trees and have developed an affinity for FAKE trees. My Christmas gift this year was upgrading the family tree to this gorgeous flocked blue monstrosity.

Pinky usually goes up in my office, but compliments of unemployment, it's in my bedroom this year.

Picture from a year past. I haven't had room to set up my perfectly cultivated bachelorette tree the last couple years, but it'll be up again next year.

Our 15th yule tree harvested from Arapaho National Forest outside of Winter Park-Fraser. My favorite annual tradition since moving to Colorado.

Well that was a bust. Thought there would be a little more enthusiasm for the topic.

Here is mine after the event.

^^^ What's the rush, my Russian friends have told me that I'm supposed to keep the tree up until March 8 (you know, commie Valentine's Day). I'm trying to mix the right concoction of aspirin, vodka and sauerkraut juice to keep it alive, but it just doesn't look promising this year.

In most of the Alps, the tree is supposed to stay until Jan 6 (Three Kings, or the 12th day of Christmas). And if you get the above mentioned concoction just right, you won't care how your tree looks.
Happy transition from 202  to 2021 everyone!
